I'm using Windows with Tunga Font. Why does ಮ + ಊ (ma + U) gives me mA instead of mU? Is this a problem with Unicode?

No, this is not a problem in Unicode. It is a bug in Tunga font that comes with Microsoft's XP Operating System. Use Kedage font or any other Unicode font that doesn't have this issue to get rid of that problem OR Download the service pack from microsoft.com to rectify this issue.

The font preference changes once you add new Open Type font depending on the configurations in place with the Operating System you're using. On Linux, consult the fontconfig directives to rectify this.
