4. Search for "m17n", right click and mark for installation - "m17n-db"

Configuration
You can directly go to gedit, right click and select the SCIM Input method from the context menu, and start writing.
But if you want to make SCIM the default Input Method, follow this procedure:
(from Ubuntu Wiki.)
scim-im.org's method : create 75scim file under /etc/X11/Xsession.d/ with following lines (if you have 90im-switch, better to remove it for this setup)
export XMODIFIERS="@im=SCIM" export XIM_PROGRAM="/usr/bin/scim -d" export GTK_IM_MODULE=scim export QT_IM_MODULE=scim
OR
sudo apt-get install im-switch
im-switch -z en_US -s scim-m17n
Note: Change en_US on the above to your current locale. (for instance, en_IN or kn_IN - based on whichever you're using in place of the default)
